The Sociolinguistic Salience of Linguistic Variables in Najdi Arabic

This study examines the relative sociolinguistic salience of three linguistic variables in two Najdi dialects, bedouin and sedentary dialects. The quantitative data elicited from interviews Alajmi (2019) shows that bedouins are converging on dialect, to varying degrees across variables. aim this is test whether reason why there variation level convergence. Three methods have been used measure variables, Social Category Association Test (SCAT), dialect identification task multiple interviewers. all agree with convergence production (Alajmi, 2019). variable high variant was found be salient, while other which show low levels were not salient.
